Recently, I noticed that in a folder, the preview window that shows what the picture is before you open it wasn't showing the picture. I checked and all Irfanview associated files had an Irfanview icon instead of a thumbnail of the image. I looked online and it seemed like this has been a common problem. I uninstalled Irfanview and all the preview thumbnails and the preview window that's there when you open a folder again shows the picture.

I REALLY like Irfanview, so it's a shame that I can no longer use it.

It sounds like you have the wrong view options selected in Windows Explorer of the File Open dialog.

that we have the wrong view option selected. THAT'S what's not correct. The icons/thumbnails just disappear and we're left with the squished red cat logo. Here's the screenshot. No thumbnails, no images in the preview pane in folders....nothing. If I uninstall the program then reinstall it, it works....for a while. This just happened again a few minutes ago. I've used Irfanview for years. It's a shame it's a piece of crap now...

This has happened before, as you know. It turned out to be a Windows problem. Your harsh language won't help. This is fixable.
