When you try to rotate a photo, it shows up as rotated in some situations but not in others!
It DOES NOT show up as rotated when:
- you view its thumbnail in Windows Explorer
- you open it in Windows Photo Viewer
- you insert it into a Microsoft Word document
It DOES show up as rotated when:
- you open it in IrfanView
- you view the thumbnail in IrfanView Thumbnails
- you post it to Facebook
Naturally those are not comprehensive lists. They are just the situations I know of.
It happens for all rotated photos, for as long as I can remember (several years). They have been rotated with Jpeg Lossless Rotation.
