    Requested Change case

I've used IRFanView for years and it's great. FYI, I'm an experience individual with 45+ years in application development so I don't come lightly to this decision for a feature request. I checked the other feature requests and was a bit surprised that this hasn't been previously requested.

Can you add the ability to change the filename case to 'lowercase' or 'UPPERCASE'?

I already use the suggestions on the Name pattern Options to change 'JPG' to 'jpg' as well as using the name pattern to define my own name.

However, if I have a client that sends me a bunch of files with names likes 'BEA01A.JPG', 'BEA01B.JPG', etc. and I need them converted to 'bea01-a.jpg', 'bea01-b.jpg', etc., I can only use the Options to change 'BEA' to 'bea-' and the 'JPG' to 'jpg', thus giving me the filenames 'bea01-A.jpg', 'bea01-B.jpg', etc. You can see the issue.

If we had the Option to change case, then I could just add the option to change 'BEA' to 'bea-', set the option to 'lowercase' and it would change the 'A', 'B', etc. to lowercase, thus giving me 'bea01-a.jpg', 'bea01-b.jpg', etc.

Thanks for creating such a great program no matter what you decide.

Batch renaming is not a feature I use often, so I don't know of a way to do it in IrfanView.

There are plenty of free file renaming utilities with more sophisticated options for renaming files. I used one of these years ago for a particular project, but don't remember what it was called. I cannot find it on my Windows 10 PC, so it is probably on my old Windows XP PC.

This is a user-to-user forum. Irfan Skiljan does not visit here. You can send your suggestion to him directly (Help, About IrfanView). Let us know what he says.

Batch Renaming can be done with the batch conversion tool. If you choose batch rename, you can fill out the options dialogue according to your needs.
If you need more advanced options, I recommend BRU-Batch Rename Utility http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php. I find it extremely easy to use but very sophisticated in its capabilities. Option 4 lets you change case.
