    Requested Native 64bit IrfanView?

Will there ever be 64bit native version of IrfanView?
Although the normal 32bit version works without problem on 64bit OS, the growing users of x64 systems always prefer to have the native programmed applications.

Is there going to be a 64 bit version of IrfanView in the nearest future?
    thanks

There was no response to this earlier thread either, so I merged your thread with this Feature Request.

This is a User-to-User forum, so we know very little of Irfan's plans for the next version.

Is it really needed though? It's not like IrFanView needs to allocate more than 4GB of memory.

x64 support also means triple the registers, and it eliminates the thunking layer, and increases the interoperability with other 64-bit apps (plugins?).
It isn't only about memory allocation, though that isn't worthless in an image viewer, either.

Actually, now it cannot allocate more than 2 GB (a little less, actually), and given how IrfanView treats images (converting them in a DIB in memory to work on them), it may be very useful for very large images.

The latest stable IrfanPaint version is the 0.4.13.70.
IrfanPaint is now open-source (released under BSD license).
