Requested Batch conversion/rename screen not turning off after job done?

Hi,

is it possible to make the batch conversion/rename screen not to turn off after the job is completed? On a daily basis i'm resizing photos for a web site, and i need them in thumbnail size and large size. When i load all the pictures into the batch screen and encode them, then i have to reload them once more. Also, IrfanView tends to sort the pictures rather strangely (for instance: Pic_05, Pic_1, Pic_02, Pic_03, Pic_04), and sometimes i notice it and change the order according to file number at the end, and sometimes i forget, so the pics turn out wrongly numbered. Why does it sort the files in a wrong way?

You can choose the sort order by name or by name XP style. You can load a file list from a text file.

No, but you can compensate for it.

You can use Open Batch dialog in last used batch folder in Properties>Misc. 2.

If you are doing the conversions immediately after each other, you can start the Batch dialog from the Thumbnails window. Select the files you want to use and press key B. The files will be loaded into the dialog for you and you can do the first conversion. After it is complete, click the Thumbnail button on the taskbar and press B again (Important: do not press Tab to switch to the Thumbnail window, or your selections will be lost!). Your files will once again be ready to convert.

Alternatively, if you want to do something in between conversions, you can save the list of file names. Either before or after the first conversion, use File>Save selected file names as TXT in the Thumbnail window. When you are ready to do the conversion anytime in the future (even after another completely different conversion, although your other settings will need to be changed), click on Load TXT in the Batch dialog to bring the files back.

I don't know how you accomplished a sort order as you describe. I would make sure though that you have Auto sort file list after insert checked, in case you are breaking up the dragging operation into parts. Also, make sure you have by Name (ascending, XP style) selected, if that is how you want it sorted.
