Forwarded Better support for TGA (TARGA) files

Hi,

I noticed that when saving a file as TGA, no kind of save options dialog is shown, as opposed to many other file formats. In particular, I dearly miss the ability to save RLE (run length encoded) TGA files. I recently had to convert a bunch of low-color-count (4bpp) BMPs to TGA. Turned out that the TGA files were bigger than the BMPs because of the missing RLE feature, so I had to resort to other tools than IrfanView to perform the conversion.

Should be easy enough to add this. My tests on a 24-bit file showed that it was 498 K without compression but only 276 K with RLE encoding, so its a worthwhile saving.

No promises, there are so many (old) formats around ...

PNG is better than TGA.

Just curious — why do you need TGA format these days?
