Chinese in pdf (not in filename)

I can't open a pdf file that has Chinese and Thai characters in the file (not in the filename). I suspect the Chinese is making IV/gs hiccup. It gives this error:
    M:\Downloads\Parts of Building Lexicon.pdf : Decode error !
Can't load Ghostscript or Ghostscript error.
I checked the GhostScript bug list I didn't see anything relevant. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I like IV4.28 with its mulitpage thumbnails and page down option. Keep up the good work Irfan and team.

Any chance of a link to the PDF file?

      Hi cvbt,

      It's like Bhikkhu Pesala say!
With an uploaded sample pdf file we can say more!

      description for uploading:

But I also have some questions:
      see also:
      - "opening pdf files"

      - "Ghostscript plug-in"

Chinese pdf posted, Font direction needed

        Thanks Bhikkhu and Frank,
Frank, you wrote a really nice reply with colors and links. Thanks for the thoughtfulness.
        - I've posted the file here:

        - I had GS 9.00, it is GPL so, I uninstalled and installed gs8.54 AFPL version from here
        http://sourceforge.net/projects/ghos...2.exe/download).
        - I updated all the Plugins when I upgraded to IV4.28. Help>Plugins shows PostScript.dll version 4.27.
        - I can open all my other pdf files, just not this one and another similar one (even w/GS 9.00 I can open all other pdfs). I can open these problem files using Acrobat.
        - It looks like I need to download some font files: I'll try
ghostscript-8.54.tar.gz Hmmmm, this looks like a program installation package and not a font package.
        - I checked the "use the Windows Chinese TTF" when I installed gs.
        - I also downloaded and put as subdirectories of the gs font directory these Chinese fonts:
        bkai, bsmi, gbsn, gkai
I think I'm missing something here. Can you point me in the right direction? I'm not a developer, just a user.
Thanks for your kind and helpful pointers.

I had the same problem Is some of the text meant to be in Thai?

PagePlus could also not decode all of the text. The Chinese text displays OK in PDF-XChange viewer.

The postscript plugin and the external program Ghostschript allows IrfanView to read the pdf format! In most cases it works very well! But I can see also that IrfanView (with the postscript plugin and Ghostschript) isn't able to read pdf files with included special asian characters!

But that must be a mistake in Ghostschript!
            Now you have two alternatives:

Hmmmmm. Part of the file is in Thai also, yes. I can read other pdf files with Thai: I also used PDFCreator0.9.6 to create this Chinese character pdf file: PDFCreator shows an AFPL license file amongst its programs files. It uses GS8.63. The person who created the problem files says she made it from Excel using "Adobe" Hmmmm. Funny how IV can read one file with Chinese characters and not another.
I checked with the file creator and the program that converts her files to PDF is built into her Mac (Mac OSX version 10.6.5). She sent me the source file and PDFCreator made an IV readable file. So, should I pursue this on the GS forum or the Mac forum or would you suggest something else.

Feel free and do, what you think as the correct!
You can contact the devolopers of your pdf creation software or take an alternative program!

Please consider: Some results are dependently of the programs, with which you create these! Therefore update to a working stable version of the pdf creation software!
