Plugin for ScanSoft .max files?

Many people who have used the ScanSoft scanner-handling programs (the company that made them has gone through a series of acquisitions and is now called Nuance) have told me that IrfanView (with the aid of some unidentified plugin) can handle the .MAX files that contain graphics scanned using said programs.

Is that in fact true, and what plugin does that?

The files are not listed among those supported by IrfanView plugins.

Try the Nuance PaperPort Viewer — I am not sure which file(s) you need.

could you provide us an example file for the *.max file type?

Maybe it could be opened as a raw file or anything else...
