    Added FORMATS plugin to view FITS files but they are not being listed

    I installed the portable 64-bit version of Irfanview and added the FORMATS plugin so I could view .FITS files. But when I go to a folder containing .FITS files, they do not appear in the list of available files. Is there something else I need to do to enable the plugin other than copying it to the Plugins folder?

    See Settings, Extensions, Load custom file types and make sure that |FITS| is included.

      Yes "FITS" is there. The files have a .FIT extension but I think that should not matter. I even changed the extension to .FITS, but it did not matter.

        Never mind. I had to select the "All files" option in the "Open" dialog and the .FITS files were then visible and readable.
