Can images be dragged to a new folder from main window?
Can images be dragged to a new folder from main window?
I tried this today and discovered I couldn't do it. I'm using an older version (4.28 I have my reasons). Is it possible in a newer version or does anyone know of a plugin that would make it possible? Many thanks.
When you drag and drop files using IrfanView Thumbnails view, they are copied, not moved (as they are in Windows Explorer). What you may be seeing is that the file remains behind, but it is also copied to the new folder. Hold down Shift to shift files.
I know you can copy them from thumbnails view, but what I'm asking about is copying them directly from the main window like you can in a web browser. It doesn't look like you can, at least in my version. I was hoping someone know a magic trick.
Here's some more info that might be helpful. In my original post I asked about dragging, but if I could just copy and paste that'd be okay. I can copy an image in the main window using the Context menu. I checked the contents of the clipboard and it's there, but when I go to paste it in a new folder, "Paste" is grayed out in the Context menu, Edit menu and Organize menu. I can paste it into another instance of IrfanView, Paint, Photoshop, etc., just not a new folder.
Yea, found the answer. Have to use File menu>Copy file, then you can paste. Or just pressing F8 copies the file to a default folder that's preset in Options>Properties/Settings>File Handling. Doesn't get much easier than that.
The Open and Save dialog boxes that you open from the File menu are Drag and Drop enabled, so you can drag an image file from there and move it to some other folder in Windows Explorer (or another Irfanview window) without leaving the Main window of Irfanview.
