How to save a TIF in 16 bits?

    Hi,

New to this forum, I want first to give a big thank you for releasing such a powerful software!

I am using it for a longtime, but my need today is to know if it is possible to save a TIF in 16bits ?

I input a RAW Canon (cr2) file using the appropriate plugin, this is a 16bits file, but when I save it in TIF, the saved file is in 8 bits...

    Could you please advise?

    Thank you,

    Guy

I am sure you're not missing anything. IrfanView may be an image viewer on steroids, but it's not PhotoShop.

For raw files I suggest LightZone. It used to be a commercial program, but is open source now. It is quite intuitive, with some unique features, funny and friendly. It exports 8 or 16-bit tiffs and jpg. Has nice community, prepared to help. Registration is required though.

        Hello Bhikkhu Pesala,

Thank you for your reply. In deed I do not take IrfanView for PhotoShop, even if I use both
Unfortunately PhotoShop does not allow me to make easy bundle resize, cropp, etc... of RAW images when IrfanView does, or at least I don't know how to do...

At least I am happy that I didn't miss any step.

        Best regards
        Guy

I didn't know LightZone. I am currently waiting for my user subscription to be accepted to download it.

I will let know here if this answer my need.
