Batch Conversion Not Creating Multipage TIFF

I have a bunch of multipage TIFFs that were created without compression and I would like to batch convert them to LZW compressed multipage TIFFs. When I use the Batch Conversion to try to do this, the output TIFF files that are created are only single page, not multipage. What gives?

Enable the Advanced Options, Apply changes to all pages.

I enabled the Advanced Options and I see that the Apply changes to all pages box is already checked. Then I process the batch again and get the following warnings:

      Processing file: C:\39\11308249.tif
Warning: Destination file already exists, NO overwrite: C:\39\Compressed\11308249.tif

      Processing file: C:\39\11308501.tif
Warning: Destination file already exists, NO overwrite: C:\39\Compressed\11308501.tif

      Processing file: C:\39\11308553.tif
Warning: Destination file already exists, NO overwrite: C:\39\Compressed\11308553.tif

      ..... etc.

The C:\39\Compressed folder is initially empty, so why is it giving these warnings that the destination file already exists? I think maybe it is creating a single-page TIFF first then adding pages to it, but when it tries to overwrite the single-page TIFF to add more pages, it is unable to overwrite it? The reason why I think this is so is because the output TIFF files are created but they are still single-page when I view them.

Why don't I get any error? If the overwrite warning is enabled, but the destination folder is empty, a multipage file is created.

My IrfanView version is 4.32. What is your version? Maybe it's a bug fixed in a later version?

BTW I see that you have the Save palette for greyscale images box checked. I unchecked that box. Does it need to be checked for the multipage creation to work?

My IrfanView version is shown in my user profile, as yours should be.

Upgrading to the latest version is a given before reporting bugs. We are wasting our time if you're using an old version. Bugs get fixed with every new version, and new features are added.

It's not a bug. I finally found out what's wrong. There's another box in Advanced Options that needs to be checked - Overwrite existing files. Though you wouldn't think it necessary to check this box when doing a Batch Conversion if there are no existing files in the destination folder! Does your version 4.38 have this box checked by default?

It was checked when I first tested this, but then I tested again with it unchecked, and it still works if the destination folder is empty.

Of course, if it's not, e.g. when running the same batch test again, then I get error messages, and the batch job fails. No new files are created.

So in a way it was a bug after all. Maybe it was corrected after the author realized that IrfanView should not consider it an error if the existing file to be overwritten was created by IrfanView itself as part of the first step it performs during the conversion process.

Thank you so much for your inputs that have helped me solve this problem!
