View pictures in same order as windows explorer

I can't get ifranview to view pictures in the order in which they appear in windows explorer. I have tried to sort directory files by name (natural logic/order) with no luck.


If i sort my pictures folder by name\date\size etc then I'm not sure why I can't get ifranview to just match that.

Are you using the Thumbnail viewer? What are the Thumbnail Sort Options?

Sorting by name,date or size should produce exactly the same order in the Irfanview main window as it does in Windows explorer. It certainly does on my computer.
Check
1. You are not using Windows98 or earlier version of windows
2. You have set the same direction (Ascending or Descending) in both Irfanview and Explorer.
3. You may not display all of the files in Irfanview that you have listed in Explorer. Only those file types you see selected in Options >Set File associations will be displayed in Irfanview.
4, That you cannot tell us anything else that might be significant - like the file names are all in Chinese characters perhaps!

If you have checked all those then use a small folder with only a few image files in it and tell us the order they appear in Explorer and then the order in Irfanview. We might be able to spot something from that.
