Solved JPG / NEF not showing as part of file name

I was using Windows 7 and then transferred all my photo files (all images stored as both JPG and NEF) to my new laptop (Windows 10).

On the old laptop everything was OK but now all image files are failing to show "JPG" or "NEF" as part of their displayed name. In other words, every file is designated by its number only (together with any annotations I've made, i.e. changes to the file name).

What can I do to get "JPG" and "NEF" to form part of the displayed name?
