    Batch processing text

I'm trying to add the file name ($F) as text on my images in batch processing. The program does not seem to honor my request to locate the text string at the coordinates I specify. If I use a top left or top right corner spec, the text is placed top center, or down the number of pixels I may indicate in the Y coordinate. Likewise, trying to use bottom left or bottom right places the text string in bottom center.

Here is a typical picture; the annotation appears top center. I'd like to position it under my watermark, X=10, Y=60, but Irfanview is not letting me put it there.

      1. Open your image and draw a selection on it exactly where you want the text overlay to appear in batch mode
      2. Ctrl T to add a text overlay. Here you will see the co-ordinates of the selection greyed out in the dialogue because you cannot change the size and position of the selection here (you can in the Custom selection dialogue).
      3. Select the desired font, size, and colour, enter the desired $F and date codes
      4. Preview to test that the text fits at the chosen font size
      5. Cancel or undo the action
      6. Open the batch dialogue and add the files that you wish to process
      7. On the advanced batch dialogue select the overlay text checkbox and in the overlay text Settings enter the co-ordinates of the area where you want to place the overlay
      8. Enter the codes and choose the font as before
      9. Now run the batch process to stamp all of the images

It didn't work. I entered 8,53 as coordinates from top left. The batch processing put the text at center horizontally and 53 vertically. Sample attached.

I also tried batch processing on resizing the image and adding text first (at 10,60) rather than the watermark. No luck, the text still appears centered and +60 down.

Please attach a screen shot of the Text Overlay Settings in the Advanced Batch Dialogue.

That seems to be similar to mine, which works, so why doesn't your's? Are you opening the most recent result photo and not an old one? If you ran the batch before it won't overwrite by default.

I choose new photos each time, three or four, so there is no overwrite conflict. I also tried changing the centering of the text in the selection to left, and the text box was inserted at 0,60, as shown here.Click image for larger version

I left the text left justified, set a new selection of 25,55 sized 250x20, and did new photos. If I fit the background to the text, I get a left justified string starting at the correct x coordinate. If I uncheck that fitted background, I get a full width bar with the text left justified. My desire is that the text get centered in the 250x20 area at that coordinate.

I can accept a compromise to put the text at 10,10 in the lower right corner. My whole idea is to add the file name because Facebook renames all photos shared therein. This makes an easy reference back to my site and the original file name.Click image for larger version
