    Super-simple newbie question

Hi! I was wondering how to view when a photo was taken -- a pretty basic thing!

Looking at each of the available menu items in turn, including of course "Options - Properties, Settings", none of the properties, settings seemed to show this information. "Help" wasn't helpful (a search came up with nothing). Nor was Frequently Asked Questions on the website useful to me. Simply put, I can't find the answer!

A broader question is: is there very basic how-to manual for newbies that would answer this type of question?

Open the Image Information dialogue, and look at the Exif information.

Do not limit yourself to searching on the forum and in the Irfanview help file. If you had put in the correct keywords you would have found some help, but if you do not know what the correct keywords are you need to try a more intelligent search engine like Google.

I just put in the word Irfanview followed by your question into Google i.e. Irfanview how to view when a photo was taken and that found a lot of possible websites, including this forum, with relevant but perhaps not quite the best answer. Read through some of them though and you will see other words and phrases that are used in answer to the question. You would probably have discovered that the phrase "date taken" is often used and that lets you refine your query to for example Irfanview view date taken. That gives you a whole lot more, including 5 relevant threads from this forum.
