Solved Since Update to 4.50 no settings can be changed because i_view64.ini is read-only

Since update to 4.50 no settings can be changed because i_view64.ini is read-only.

All settings are lost since IrfanView has been updated.
Languages everything is gone and can't be set again, because the error message says, that i_view64.ini is read-only.

This is not true, I have write access to this file.

    So what happened?

How did you install IrfanView 64-bit? Was it for only the current user or for all users? I have no problems saving changes to settings for the 64-bit version.

i_view64.ini in C:\Program Files\ will be read-only, but it will point to another file in %AppData% .

      As I wrote:

I used the previous version for a long time withpout any problems.
Yesterday it was updated to v4.50 automatically.
Since then I do have these probs.

All previous settings are gone and I can not set them, because of this i_view64.ini bug.

        Moin,

did you install IrfanView from the Windows Appstore? If so, uninstall it, download it as program file (.exe) and install it "as administrator".
That is always the safest way to install a programm. You will find a download source, if you go to http://www.irfanview.de.
If you need more help, don't hesitate to ask.

I installed the previous 4.44 version 64-bit months ago, directly downloaded from the irfanviewpage.
It worked well, no probs at all.

          once again:

SINCE the automatic update to 4.50 all settings are lost and can not be reset.
The problems came with the automatic update.

            Moin,

I understood perfectly what you wrote. AFAIK there is no update mode in IrfanView.

If you go to the help menu, there is only an option to open the Irfanview homepage. The description in the Irfanview help file is: "Check for updates -
Displays IrfanView homepage in your web browser with the info about the current program version and the version installed on your system."

So the question is: How did you get an automatic update?

              Moin moin,
that was it: Kaspersky anti virus caused it by automatically downloading and installing the 4.50 version.
I deactivated also the update mode in Kaspersky.
I de- and reinstalled 4.50 and this problem is now no longer existing.

              Thank you for your help!

              Wish everybody a nice weekend
