EPS background

I purchased an EPS file with a transparent background. Specifically, the photo at

I can set the GhostScript DPI settings to get a large image, but how do I get IrfanView to give it a white background??
I have set the Screen Color and Background Color for Cut to white. No change.

How do I get IrfanView to give it a white background -- no checkerboard, just white?

Save it without transparency.

Saving as a GIF, JPG, and PNG file gives me the same thing: checkerboard pattern like seen on CanStockPhoto. Also attached.
The thread at https://irfanview-forum.de/showthread.php?t=7258 might be related, but there is no answer there, either.

Without the original EPS image it is hard to see might the problem might be. If you send me a DropBox link to me via Private Message, I can take a look at it.

If I open the EPS in a drawing program (Serif DrawPlus), the chequered background is still there.

If I break apart the EPS into separate objects, the chequered background is deeply ingrained in the image.

Contact the vendors and ask them why the background is not transparent.
