is there a way to disable double click to enter full screen?

As the title suggests I cant seem find an option to disable Irfanview going into full screen mode if I double clicking on an image. It has become a problem because I may have damaged my mouse a teeny tiny bit while gaming. It is an option I dont use anyways.
I looked through the options multiple times but couldnt find an option for it. google and forum search didnt reveal anything either. I suspect that is due to me using slightly wrong search terms though, as always =/.

Nope, it isnt broken enough. And it still wouldnt solve my problem. I never liked the double click full screen. But it wasnt enough of an issue to post here about it. Now it is.
Is there such an option or isnt there?

I can confirm that double clicking on an image in a window does make it open in Fullscreen. It is not a documented feature and I am quite surprised to find that it happens. Double click is of course part of Windows system interface menus like Open and Save but I cannot think of anywhere else in Irfanview that double clicking has been chosen by Irfan Skiljan, in fact he has told me on occasions when I have suggested using it that he does not like double clicking.

Does anyone here actually use it deliberately to make an image fullscreen? Double clicking a mouse button on a fullscreen image does not reverse the process. Instead the image stays in fullscreen and the action is the same as a single click, moving to either the previous or the next image. Maybe it is a bug that Irfan has missed.

@Mij: Yes, me. I use the double click to enter full screen mode almost daily. And I find it extremely comfortable. To leave fullscreen just hit [ESC]
to return to the previous window state.
I agree that it would be logical, if another double click would revert to the previous window state.

@nachtkap: If the mouse produces the double click by itself, it's definitely broken.
You may try to set the double click intervall to a another value in the Mouse Settings of Windows, but I doubt that it helps.

Double-clicking for full-screen for ages. ("Like all the normal people.")

Gaming-damaged mice are even more annoying when editing images. Often unusable, that is.

It is rather unusual behaviour, but IrfanView is unusual in quite a lot of respects, perhaps because it has evolved for so long. Disabling double-click would annoy a lot of users. More options are not always a good move — they make the program harder to support.

Middle-click will exit full screen mode. The Enter key will enter and exit fullscreen mode.

If the mouse is damaged, double-click will cause problems in many applications. Change the mouse is the most appropriate advice here.

FastStone Image Viewer also uses double-click (or middle-click) to toggle the view between fullscreen and windowed mode.

                Also:

Left button click ... in the upper left or right screen corner = close full screen.

                Unused keys Like: J, ",", ".", "#" etc. will close slideshow/fullscreen

I forgot that one. That's the problem with IrfanView's rather idiosyncratic shortcuts.

A little egg on the face here. I checked v3.00 (my last version of Irfanview on floppy disk) and found that double click for fullscreen and middle button click for restore to window, works on that too. How could I have been using Irfanview all that time and not discovered it?

Same here, never noticed it in more than a decade of near daily use of IrfanView.

                      currently running 4.56 / 32 bit
