I'm having an issue that suddenly has cropped up: when modifying a bunch of .png and/or .jpg images to go from 515x515 .png and/or .jpg to 1600x1600 .png/.jpg at level 9 compression level, they are rendering very slowly. However, when I did my .jpg images from 515x515 .jpg to 1600x1600 .jpg at level 9 they rendered very fast.
PNG files are lossless. Compression reduces the file size a lot more at 9 than at 1, which is handy for uploading/hosting on web sites. A compression ratio of 6 may be fast enough without much loss of compression.
