Pasting pictures into a picture with a good aspect ratio

Hi,
I can easily paste several pictures into a single
picture in IrfanView 4.10... but what's the best way to
keep the aspect ratio so the pictures pasted look right
and not stretched?

Yes, I know that the easiest way is to create a contact
sheet but I want the pictures pasted in different sizes
so that the most important ones are big.

Well, and there is custom crop selection... but is there
something that will paste a picture fast and easy with
a nice aspect ratio? Something like: "paste 640x480 on
the selected area and keep aspect ratio".

Pasting pictures into a selected area is one of the
things I like best about IrfanView. I am looking for a
way to paste them fast and easy with a nice aspect
ratio.

Make your custom 640x480 selection, then resize it with control and reposition with the right mouse until it is the size and position you want, then paste into the selection.
