Animation Speed

I wonder why the animation speed is faster in IrfanView than in other programs.

Compare the speed of the attached file with its speed in other programs. It seems too fast to me. Is this a bug? Isn't animation speed hard-wired into animated GIF images?

Interesting point. I experienced myself differences in speed depending on the player in the past.

Animation speed and frame delay values are indeed embedded in the GIF files.

But apparently, other aspects play a role as well.

With this example, I placed it realtime while IV-playing next to the playing of Animation Shop on my screen.
No significant difference between the sync of the two windows.
But when I recorded this with CamStudio into one area, the playback of the two was influenced by this third party active.
Due to different speeds, the sync gets lost pretty soon.
