Automatically switch focus to slideshow

When I start a slideshow from Thumbnail view it never gets focus automatically which means that keyboard advancement and pressing Esc to end it is not possible.

Is there any way to change this behaviour, that started when I upgraded from 4.10 to 4.20?

Of course I have tried searching first but haven't found anything, and been through the settings several times.

A few words about my system, although some of the info is in my profile. I use IrfanView 4.20 on a 32 bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium, running on a dual core processor (the reason I upgraded) and has 4 GB RAM installed.

IIRC that's already been reported as a bug. Clicking the middle mouse button will exit the slide-show.
