I can't see any 'canvas' effect?

There is an oil painting effect but i cant see any difference

If you mean the option 'Image/Add Canvas', it has nothing to do with an effect.
Canvas is meant here as (default) : enlarging your 'canvas' by adding colored borders, of a set size, to the image.

I am sure that this is what Jethro means. I did it in Corel PhotoPaint.

Yep, I realized that, but this efffect is not present in the IV-list.
