Display original date in status bar

When I display a digital photo in Irfanview I see a lot of useful information in the status bar at the bottom. However, the date/time information shows when the image was created on the disk. Is there anyway to change this so that it displays the time the photograph was taken? I know I can access this information in Image>Information>EXIF, but that takes several mouse clicks, and it would be really useful to see the original time information with the image.
