Zoom with Mousewheel (without pressing CTRL)

    Hi guys
How can I zoom the image with the mouswheel without holding down the CTRL - Key?
I dont want it to jump to next image, it just should zoom...

There is no way to change the control zoom behaviour.

Scrollwheel alone is used for zooming in other Photo-Editors that I have, e.g. Corel PhotoPaint and Serif PhotoPlus.

IrfanView is an image viewer so scroll wheel is used for browsing images quickly.

Control plus scroll wheel is widely used for zooming in other viewers, e.g. in Adobe Reader.

I find it funny to call Irfanview a Image Viewer.....Viewers like FastStone open in the Thumbnails view working as a Viewer Browser from which an image may be edited, loaded to an editor, drag and dropped, etc.

But Irfanview opens as an image editor and mixes, working on an image with moving through the directory, picture by picture.

It seems better to turn off the View All Files and use as a single Image/Viewer/Editor...

It would be more accurate to say that Irfanview originated as an Image viewer and many features (like zooming and the keys used to do it) date from those early days. If you look at the history you will see that Thumbnails did not appear until v3.0.

Yes of course, if you wrote it today with all the present day features, no doubt many things would be done differently.

What are you trying to zoom?

You can have the image always zoomed in, using zoom lock. You can click inside a selection area with only your mouse to zoom. You can also zoom with the mouse by clicking on the toolbar icons. Pressing + or - keys will zoom as well. Many ways.
