Dialogue Problem on Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs

    This pic says it all:
    http://i44.tinypic.com/2j0e03t.jpg

OS is Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs. I left out the extra languages support and I'm suspecting this is the cause.

edit: Resolution 1280x1024, 96DPI. It worked fine with regular XP on the same computer.

    IrfanView 4.23.

If I understand you correctly, you didn't install the system font that IrfanView uses for its dialogues, and you think this is a bug in IrfanView?

    Try installing the system font.

I installed the additional fonts. It's still the same.

The dialogues use MS Sans Serif 8 pt. If the MS Sans Serif font is not installed, then another font will be substituted, resulting in the problem you can see.

Otherwise, I don't know what the problem is. Could be a missing DLL since you're not using a standard version of Windows.

Could be a Windows Display Setting

There are two other possibilities. First is Windows' setting for the display fonts. The default is 96 DPI, but it can be set to other values such as 120 DPI. Increasing the DPI makes text in most windows bigger, handy when you have a high resolution screen. The problem is that while Windows scales the font, it doesn't scale the size of dialog boxes. The result is similar to what bohdan shows in his screen shot. bohdan says that the system is set for 96 DPI and I notice that the tab title text is NOT bigger, so that's probably not the problem (but worth verifying).

Second possibility is one of Windows' widget font settings. Windows XP (on which WinFLP is based) lets a user change the fonts used for title bars, menus, etc. Windows will scale some (like menus), but not all (like dialog boxes) elements to fit the text. Try resetting all display settings to the XP defaults. If that fixes the problem, a little trial & error will reveal which setting is needs to change.

            Thanks for your answers, guys.

The same weird menus issue also occured with kx drivers' ASIO settings.

BTW, I tried installing that font, but I couldn't. In regular XP you can just go to File->install new font. In FLP that option was missing.

So I went back to regular XP, since FLP didn't seem to be much better, or any better at all.

I saved the OS image, tho, so when I have some time I might try what you suggested.
From what I remember, tho, the display settings were the same as in my current regular XP...
