    Can Irfanview do this?

Had a great screen capture program: RoboScreenCapture which is no longer supported and could NOT install on my new computer [new software has to registered on line]. I could make custom rectangualr shaped caps as Irfanview does, however here's the rub:

Robo could do multiple caps, what I mean is if I made an initial capture, it would "save" it and I could keep making caps and they were stored at the bottom of the program in "tabs." All I had to do was click them and they would come up in the main window. I could then save them to the HD.

When I make a cap in Irfanview and then make subsequent caps, each one overrides the previous one. Robo like I said would "save" them at the bottom of the screen as "cap 1 <> cap 2 <> cap3" etc..

Can Irfanview do this and if so how?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ellen

Heck, yes. It can save as files, anyway.
    Its: Belongs to "It"
It's: Shortened form of "It is"
    ---------------------
    Lose: Fail to keep
    Loose: Not tight

Tried it, selected the "save captured image as" and when I captured it, nothing happened in Irfanview. What I want is that it will NOT "write over" the previous capture and I can retrieve it from the within the program and not leave to go to "temp" files stored somewhere else on computer. Robo was great and am in the process with Adobe to try and reactivate my S/N. But don't have faith that that will transpire, and SO . . . .

Have been using Irfanview for years and it's a great program. If I can't get Robo back, I'll stick with Irfanview. I use it to view BMP files and LOVE it!! Just wish it would do just that ONE thing!

Since all you have to do is browse the folder where you saved your screen captures, it seems like you already have all of the functionality you need. I prefer FastStone Capture is it has more options, but you would also have to save captures to a file as you do with IrfanView's screen capture.

You choose where to save the images, there is no going to "'temp' files stored somewhere else on computer". Where does RoboScreenCapture store the actual files it displays on its magic tabs? Do you know, can you control that?

So, when you say "save" you don't actually mean to the disk? It sounds like you just want your captures to be retained in memory and represent them as tabs in the viewer. Afterwards, you want to edit or save them yourself to the disk. IrfanView can't really do that because it doesn't support tabs like some other viewers do.

What you can do though is try Pic-Pick, a screen capture program that does allow you to output your captures to the editor in tabs. The tabs even have an indicator to remind you if you've saved them or not:

I should have thought of that. Pic-Pick is quite a cool item. I don't use it so often though.
