Save as WMF and Convert to WMF

Hi I am a new user and have a question regarding the wmf extension.

I would like to edit and save as wmf. i have a number of wmf files. i can edit with the paint tool bar but save seems to be lacking that extention. is this correct?

also is it possible to convert to wmf from another extension?

WMF is a vector file format — IrfanView converts it to a bitmap for viewing so there is no way back to a vector image. You need a drawing program.
