Editing text

I am a new user to Irfanview and am doing my first file which is an image of a dragon with text boxes top and bottom.
I have managed to do that OK but want to edit each of the two text boxes but haven't a clue how to do it !
I have looked in the help files but to no avail.

Can someone please help me ?

Erase the text and replace it using the IrfanPaint plugin (F12). There is no way to edit text that is in an image as a bitmap.

Or better use a program with layers like Gimp (free) or PhotoShot (expensive).
With both you are able to have the picture on one layer as a graphic and place a text layer above. The text may be edited, moved etc...
The picture has to be saved in a special format and at the end converted to a simple file like jpeg or png.
