How to Get Paste to Create New Window/Image?

I've used Irfanview for a long time, and it used to be when I would cut an image out, and then Ctrl+V it would create a new window and paste the selection automatically into it.

I recently reinstalled after a format, and it's just pasting the image back into my current window. I can recreate this by cutting outside the selection and then cropping the selection, or manually creating a new window. But is there any way to get it to automatically do this again?

Just deselect the selection before pasting.

It changed because the current behaviour is more useful. For example, copy a selection and move the selection with the Shift keys or right mouse button, then post the clipboard contents back into the selection.

If you want the old behaviour use the old version.
