Missing EXIF data

Irfanview v. 4.10, Win XP/Pro SP3
Dell Inspiron 6000 with 1.5 Ghz Pentium M processor and 2 GB RAM (and other Win XP computers)

Open Raw file (e.g., NEF)
Save as/Save as type=jpg
Select "Keep original EXIF data"
Save
Open jpg (in Irfanview or any other application capable of displaying EXIF data)
EXIF data is missing

Look again at the JPG save dialogue. IrfanView does not support the saving of Exif data, unless the original image is a JPG image.

Is that a recent change? I remember doing that in the past and the EXIF info was stored in the JPEG when converting from RAW (ORF in my case).
