    Highlighting portions of a photo

This seems to me to be a very simple feature, but I can't see how to do it. I want to draw rectangles (like cropping boxes) around parts of a photo, but instead of cropping I want to highlight the box border (transparent yellow ideally) without cropping.

I want to use this feature for highlighting small parts of a photographed newspaper page. In other words, I want to retain the whole page but have 3 or 4 boxes that will direct the eye to the relevant parts of the page.

Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

You can apply an image effect like Sepia or negative to the selected area from the Image Effects dialogue.

Jeffg, you could copy the desired area to a second IV instance (keep the original selection in the first IV window), apply a filter that creates frames, e.g. AAA Options (I'm sure there are others too) and then paste it back in the original selection.
