Solved Next image is not selected after deleting an image in IrfanView Thumbnails

In IrfanView Thumbnails, after deleting an image, the next image doesn't get selected automatically, so when I hit the Delete key on it, I get a prompt "No thumbnails Selected". Is there a way around this? The next image needs to be selected instead of me selecting it manually.

Try opening the thumbnail in the viewer and use the delete key in the viewer window.

I am going through tens of images. I want to be able to view and delete with quick keystrokes and no friction.

So try the suggested method. Open the thumbnail view, open the image you wish to delete in the viewer, then press delete.

It asks if you want to delete the image, then it deletes it and jumps to the next one. almost no friction at all — not even as much as using Windows Explorer for this task.

In Options, File-handling, check "Jump to next file after deleting/moving."

Then Delete, space (or enter), delete, space, or just space if you don't wish to delete the current image.

I was in the main program and able to go to next/prev using arrows keys and use delete.

          Thanks.

You can select multiple images in thumbnails by holding down the Shift or Ctrl key when clicking on them in the same way as you do in Windows Explorer. Pressing the Delete key will then delete all of those selected with just a single confirmation. After the deletion the selected image is always the one that is open in the main window.

So one technique would be to display a page of thumbnails and double click the last image so that it is opened in the main window. It then acts as a bookmark. Press Tab to return to the Thumbnail window. Click the first image on the page that you want to delete. That will also deselect the one you are using as a bookmark. Then hold down the Ctrl key and click on all the others on the page that you want to delete. Press Delete and confirm. All the images on that page are deleted in one go and the bookmarked image is reselected.
You can then scroll the bookmarked thumbnail up to the top row and start working on the next page.

That's not practical for what i want to do. I want to delete when viewing at large thumbnail. That means mostly one at a time. Anyways, as I said, I found a way.
