Suddenly, I cannot change the JPEG percentage in SaveAs

I'm using Win10 and have been using IrfanView for many years. I've never had problems adjusting the JPEG compression percentage until now.
I try to move it off of 80% to a lower compression but after the save, the JPEG slider remains at 80% and the file size does not change. I have deleted and reinstalled IrfanView and it is the most current version.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

If "Try to save with original JPG quality (estimation)" is checked, the file size on disk will not change much, but this setting has no effect on the slider. You can still drag it to wherever you wish, and is saved for the next use, but the slider position is ignored when saving the file.
