ocr pdf file

i want to convert pdf file to all ocr text without having to do only one page view at a time- can u imagine what a painstaking ordeal that is ! and how do i post in the general forum to everyone as there is NO choice or anyway to do that i can find. there is no post in a forum option

One post in the support forum is enough. Most users will just look for new posts, but questions in the support forum might be noticed sooner than those in the plugins forum. Duplicate posting is not good netiquette because someone may not notice that the other post has already been answered, so may waste their time replying again.

It is a long time since I use Kadmos OCR. I get the impression that it is designed for single page images. The free version of PDF-XChange Editor should be able to convert a multi-page PDF to text using OCR, but I have forgotten how to do that. The paid-for version uses a superior text recognition engine. Check it out if you regularly need to OCR PDF files.

Before you try to OCR your PDF-file, you should first see if it is a text PDF or an image PDF. PDFs can be both. If you use
PDF-XChange Viewer Free (not Editor) and you have a text PDF, you can mark the text and copy it to a text editor or office program.
PDF-XChange Editor is commercial software an can be downloaded as demo to try it out.

PDF-XChange Editor is freeware with some Professional features disabled (using them adds a watermark). OCR is free, but advanced OCR requires the Pro version.
