When browsing pictures with Irfanview it does not show me PNG files. Even if I start on a PNG and load, it loads with Irfanview but won't go to the next one. I tried adding PNG to the list of file types but nothing happened.

See, Setting, Extensions, Load custom file types. Edit the list if you wish, but make sure that PNG is included.
Only file types associated with IrfanView will be loaded, if Load custom file types is not selected.

This is a common issue. The process of file types settings seem to be confusing for many users. I think the dialog should be modified to make it more clear.
Anyway, I've got it working. Run IrfanView as Administrator and make you settings in the list of file types, the settings will be saved to registry.My system: IrfanView 4.62 64bit, Windows 10 22H2, Intel Core i5-3570, 16GB RAM, NVidia GTX 1050Ti 4GBComment

To set the associated Extension, run IrfanView as Admin - as is stated in the settings dialogue
