    Browsing Fails on Some Directories

I have the same problem although the option "View all files in directory" is checked.
In some directories, browsing works, in some others, it does not. I observed that the problem arises with jpg images, but not with png.
Althogh under settings > extensions > associated file extensions, JPEG Format is checked, it works when I change the option from "Load only associated types while moving through directory" to "Load custom file types".

There is not much point in replying to a solved thread, so I moved your post to its own topic.

Do you have JPG files associated with IrfanView? What about JPEG images?

Selecting "Load custom file types" is the preferred option in Windows 10 and the only option in Windows 11. Just type in all file formats you'd like to browse. It's not the most convenient way to do that, but it's reliable.
