How to Disable File Rename Dialog

For security reasons, I purposely rename my .TIF files to .DAT extension. The problem is when IrfanView opens the .DAT file (which is actually a .TIF file), it shows a dialog box saying that the .DAT file is a .TIF file with incorrect extension and asking if I would like to rename the file to the correct extension. If I click No, it will display the file image correctly just the same and not have to rename the file. I would like to disable this dialog and let IrfanView simply display the image and not have to ask whether to rename the file or not. Is it possible to do this? I have tried the /silent option but it doesn't disable the dialog.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I made a typo in the title -- "Hot" should be "How". I can't seem to edit the title.

You can disable the renaming in Properties, File Handling.

You can skip *.dat file types while browsing by editing the associated file types in Properties, Extensions.
