Solved Batch resize and center pictures?

    Hello,

I need to edit pictures I took in portrait with my smartphone before merging them with landscape pictures resized to 1024x576: Shrink to a smaller size (whatever x 576), and have pictures be centered with a black background to fill on both sides so they also end up as 1024x576.

I assume it's the "Canvas size" option in the batch dialog, but it doesn't work as expected:

Does somone know if IrfanView can do that?

    Thank you.

If you add a border to a picture, then the border will enlarge the image, the canvas will become bigger.
If you need to have a height of 576 px, then the image must be smaller by the total number of pixels added as border.

      Not sure I understand.

Does it mean Canvas is indeed the way to go, or IrfanView simply doesn't have that feature?

You need to do both: resize and change the canvas size. This can be done in the Batch dialog for many images at once.
