Large Slidshow.exe very slow

I tried to create a bigger slideshow (around pictures). Creating the slidshow wasn't a problem. I saved it as .exe (size about 2GB)
The problem is that if you open this exe it is very slow. If you click for the next picture you have to wait 30-50s O.o
Is this a general problem with lagre slidshow or is there something you can do wrong?

I just tested with a slideshow.exe of 1.96 Gbytes. It takes a long time to load, but then runs as expected. The slides are set to change every 5 seconds, and do so as expected. RAM use is surprisingly low — hovering around 50 Mbytes. My hardware is over six years old.
