Well this helps real good.
I installed IrfanView after an uninstall and faced the problem windows Photo takes all functions over.
By searching NoOpenWith in the registry (make a registry backup first), I found a number of records started with AppX. In it the NoOpenWith key. Delete that and I was able to Right-click the extension and choose a new default program, also by settings => apps => default apps, then type in the extension (.jpg , .png, .gif etc. ) and you can choose now a new default.
Good luke

Your solution can really help others who are facing similar issues with Windows 11 and file associations. I've noticed Windows 11 can be a bit finicky when it comes to setting default apps, but then again, what's an OS upgrade without a few quirks, right?
By the way, if anyone's reading this and contemplating a move to Windows 11, you might want to check out https://digitalchillmart.com/product...pro-32-64-bit/. It could offer a smoother experience with enhanced features that may mitigate some of these minor hiccups.
Thanks for sharing your solution, Din and. Super useful for anyone grappling with the same issue!?Last edited by christense; 20.10.2023, 01:10 PM.
