IrfanView 4.65 64-BIT = several seconds of unresponsiveness, even on a very powerful configuration.
Tested on various computer configurations. Microsoft's photo viewer is MANY times faster.
Win 10 64-bit ASUS RTX4060 64GB RAM DDR5, i5 13400F, Monitor ASUS ProArt / Disk ONLY SSD

Do you have a link to the original image for testing?
What does the Information dialog tell you about the load time?

At my place it shows "31 milliseconds!"
But IrfanView doesn't respond for several seconds.
All other photo viewers are up to 1000% times faster and do not hang.
And I know what causes IRFAN VIEW to REALLY hang up. If the picture is in a folder with a very large number of items. (Example test 11,000+ ... 50,000+ items JPG)
Of course, this doesn't bother for all other third-party tools for displaying photos, but it contributes to a huge drop in performance of IrfanView? (GUI?)

A while ago I found a similar topic on the forum and indeed. Disabling this setting increased the GUI response.

So there is no bug here. The program is working as expected. Maybe organise your images into a few folders, of disable folder browsing.
