    Viewing HEIC Photos

I've downloaded and installed the iview467_plugins_x64_setup.exe file but still have a blank window when trying to view .HEIC photos. I'm on a Win10/64 PC. What am I missing?

I can view some, but not all. See HEIC Photos.

Can you view the HEIC photo in the attached archive?

You probably need to install some codecs.

    * 62. TOOLS.DLL - This PlugIn contains some additional functions (like Text effects) for IrfanView.
(and some special formats, like: HEIC, AVIF; with installed codecs/extensions)?

Unknown file format, empty/damaged file or file not found !?

I am a bit confused. I would also like to use IrfanView for HEIC files on my Windows 10 PC, but I just get a blank screen (no error message). I have read the advice in various posts on the web to install codecs from the MS Store, but I can already view HEIC files in Windows Explorer. Doesn't that mean that the needed codecs are already present?

              I think you need CopyTrans

If you can't open HEIC files on Windows Computer, we will help you out to solve this problem and convert HEIC files or to turn HEIC off on your iPhone.

I also have this problem. About 400 HEIC in my newer iPhone 15 need converting to JPG (or others). I tried adding HEIC as a custom file type in Options > Properties... > Extensions menu. No luck yet.

MS is getting an earful too. Search HEIC in: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/discussions/

I've solved my problem and hope this will solve yours:

There's a perfectly straight forward GUI solution (actually 3) available FREE (unless you are a business) from XnSoft: https://www.xnview.com/en/

XnViewMP, XnView Classic and XnConvert can all do the job of viewing and converting virtually every kind of graphic file, including HEIC files. I discovered this as I was going through my dozen installed but little used list photo editors after my default Irfanview wasn't working for HEIC files. Really saved my bacon! And, no I didn't have to install ImageMaick. (and if you really want to, command line options are available, but I didn't)

My old version 1.0 of XnViewMP from April 2022 handled 650-odd conversions with only a little experimentation with the settings for the batch file converter tool. This old version is a bit clunky and slow (it took 6 hours to convert my 15 GB pile of HEIC photos on an external USB drive) but the newer version (which I admit I should've updated to) does better. Here are the current versions:

                  XnViewMP 1.88 (Win 10 and 11)

                  XnView Classic 2.52.1 (pre-Win 11)

                  XnConvert 1.105.0 (all)

BTW: worth it to get the extended versions with all bells and whistles where they are available.

BONUS: there are MAC and Linux versions as well. I can only recommend most strongly all XnSoft products as they are way ahead of your HEIC curve.?
